Beginning a Journey

On Thursday Sept 27th I officially begin my PhD program at the University of California Riverside. I'm both excited and nervous. My primary interests are American Government and the US Supreme Court. Congress, state, and local politics I also find fascinating.

I have made the transition from San Diego to Riverside. Riverside is different from San Diego. While stationed at 29 Palms I grew fond of the the desert. I think the desert is a beautiful wondrous place especially after a rain. I also enjoy "dry heat." Although one could argue that our climate here in the Inland Empire has had its share of humidity.

Oatmeal has also made a transition and is now residing with George. Oatmeal seems to enjoy access to the outdoors and has steadily warmed up to George. Although he still maintains his obsession with the ball. Oatmeal if given the opportunity would run after the ball until he falls over. Unfortunately he has been digging and I don't know how to train a dog not to dig.

The transition has been tough but necessary. I think I like my new home here in Riverside, but will hold judgement until some time elapses. Until next time.
